The Golf Course

The 18 holes, harmoniously integrated into the 63 hectares, were designed by the architects John Harris and Marco Croze. A number of significant changes have been made since the summer of 2013 following the work of the agronomist, Fulvio Bani, to make the golf course a facility for hosting international competitions such as the European Senior Tour, held at the end of October 2016. Thanks to the constant, outstanding level of quality in maintaining the golf course, as well as the attention to the environment, the Udine Golf Club was awarded both the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) certification, updated in October 2019 and valid up to 2022, and the “Impegnati nel Verde” (Committed to the Green) certification.

  • Hole no.1

The hole runs slightly downhill (an approximately 21 metre drop off). The side bunker on the drive landing needs to be noted. The green, protected by two hazards and rather tall trees, slopes slightly and inconsistently to the right.

  • Hole no.2

A par 4 gradually rising. Two trees in the middle of the fairway make the approach to the green quite difficult. The green itself is very large, protected by two bunkers, one to the front on the right and the other behind to the left. A delicate approach is needed to the green.

  • Hole no.3

A par 3 with quite a noticeable downhill run. The ball won’t roll to the green though if the shot is slightly short. Difficulty: two bunkers protect the green, the red poles behind and to the right of it. The green, almost completely flat and with the hole in the middle, rewards decisive shots.

  • Hole no.9

The fairway for this hole runs smoothly and gradually uphill. Difficulty: the rough, bushes and trees to the left run along the entire fairway; there is a bunker to the left of the green and rough right behind it. The green has slight slopes.

  • Hole no.10

Quite a wide fairway which runs slightly downhill.
There’s a partial dog-leg to the left on the first shot, out on the left and a long row of tall, thick trees to the right. The large, visible green is protected by a water hazard to the front which crosses the fairway and a bunker on the left.

  • Hole no.11

The narrow passage between the tee and the fairway with a frontal water hazard creates difficulties, more than anything else, at the psychological level. The green is protected by a bunker on both sides, slightly raised from the fairway but without significant slopes.
