Cividale del Friuli is a city of Lombard origin of great historical importance for Europe. Its artistic treasures have been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2011.
Every monument here is worth a visit: from the Lombard Tempietto, inside the Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle, to the Devil’s Gate (Ponte del Diavolo), a symbol of the town. The Celtic Hypogeum is also worth a visit: this is a complex of artificial caves in levels, under a private home and the Duomo, built in 1457. Inside is one of the masterpieces of medieval Italian jewellery: the silver Pala of Pellegrino II.
