The town of Grado, in the Marano lagoon, was established 500 years before Venice, as the traditional saying goes: Grado is the daughter of Aquileia and mother of Venice. Its two paleo-Christian monasteries are among the oldest in Italy: the basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Basilica of Sant’Eufemia.
